New transmission fluid for demanding oil shear clutch and brake applications
Force Control Industries introduces a private label transmission fluid which is engineered specifically for demanding oil shear applications.
This unique type F ATF is formulated using premium base oils for superior thermal stability, viscosity characteristics, and their ability to withstand harsh operating environments. It is then enriched with a proprietary mix of additives to provide anti-wear protection, oxidation resistance, and viscosity control, to increase efficiency of the components and extend their service life. Force Control ATF Type F is ideal for use with all of Force Control’s oil shear products.
“We formulated our private label ATF Type F product specifically for the demanding environment that our products are used in,” said Force Control Engineering Manager Keith Kincaid. “Magnashear Brakes, Posistop brakes, and Posidyne clutch-brakes can actuate up to 300 cycles per minute, with precise positioning every cycle. This engineered ATF helps keep all components lubricated and working smoothly while dissipating heat without breaking down.”
Transmission fluid is a critical component in oil shear technology. A film of transmission fluid flows between the paper friction disc and the steel drive plate. As the fluid is compressed, the fluid molecules, in shear, transmit torque to the other side. This torque transmission causes the two components to reach the same relative speed. Since most of the work is done by the fluid particles in shear, wear is virtually eliminated. Elimination of wear also eliminates the need for adjustments and maintenance – and prolongs the service life. In addition to transmitting torque, a patented fluid recirculation system helps to dissipate the heat from the friction surface to the outer housing where it is cooled.
Along with heat removal and torque transmission, the fluid serves to continually lubricate all internal components of the unit, so that they do not rust or prematurely wear. This significantly increasing their service life, especially in the high humidity levels often seen in food processing plants. Force Control ATF Type F was designed to increase efficiency and prolong service life in the most demanding applications.
