Sphere 1 names 2016 Award Winners

Sphere 1 named the winners of its top awards recognizing preferred suppliers.

The awards were presented at the cooperative's 18th Annual Meeting and Conference that focused on Sphere 1’s commitment to “Moves Management,” an initiative to enhance collaboration between Sphere 1’s distributor-members and preferred suppliers.

Freud America, a back-to-back winner for Accessory Products, and Stanley Black & Decker, which re-claimed the title for the Core Products category this year, were named the 2016 Partnership of the Year award winners for excellent service and a quality program to the Sphere 1 Membership. These highest vendor awards are based on the overall score on Sphere 1’s annual support card, which ranks all 101 vendors on six criteria important to the success of the cooperative.

“It’s no surprise as to why Freud America and Stanley Black & Decker are successful within Sphere 1, as they offer an excellent product mix, wonderful marketing programs and they’re always on the cutting edge of providing Sphere 1 Members what they need to be preserver in today’s tough market conditions,” said Sphere 1 Senior vice president, Rob Moe.

For the fifth year in a row, Hitachi Power Tools received the 2016 Preferred Supplier for highest sales achievement by brand. “This represents a long and lasting partnership commitment by the entire Hitachi team and our growing Sphere 1 membership, which is now 860+ locations strong,” said Carol Shackelford, CEO of Sphere 1.

Stanley Black & Decker also took home the Preferred Supplier of the Year award for 17 consecutive years, for achieving the highest overall purchase volume with Sphere 1 Members in 2016.

Nu Way, an industry leader in the sales and rental of concrete forms, equipment, and accessories, was named the 2016 Member of the Year. Leading the way in the best overall score in five areas critical to Sphere 1’s success, Nu Way demonstrated excellence in collaboration and growth within the cooperative.

“Nu Way, a Member of Sphere 1 for 13 years, has consistently exhibited what it means to be a sound Member of Sphere 1. They have excelled in both Sphere 1’s planning and continued education platforms as well as exhibit the highest level of dedication in working with Sphere 1’s Preferred Supplier Network,” said Moe.
