Core & Main names VP of corporate development

Core & Main appointed Jeff Giles as its new vice president of corporate development.

Giles has more than 15 years of experience in business and corporate development and has lead or participated in more than 20 transactions totaling nearly $1 billion. Most recently, he served as director of corporate development for Barry-Wehmiller Group, a St. Louis-based global supplier of engineering consulting and manufacturing technology. Giles was instrumental in Barry-Wehmiller’s acquisition-driven growth, helping propel the company from $1.4 billion in annual revenue to over $2.8 billion during his tenure. Prior to his time at Barry-Wehmiller, he held the roles of vice president and director of business development at Bertram Capital, a San Mateo, Calif.-based private equity firm. While at Bertram, Giles was charged with developing the firm’s deal origination, evaluation and marketing functions, as well as building out their intermediary network across North America, managing over 2,000 relationships at more than 700 firms.

As vice president of corporate development for Core & Main, Giles will lead the mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and corporate development functions, including strategy and inorganic growth initiatives, pipeline development, strategic evaluation, deal structure, valuation, due diligence and negotiation.

“Jeff’s skills and expertise will be extremely beneficial to our growth plan for 2018, especially as we work to expand our services across markets,” said Steve LeClair, Core & Main CEO. “I look forward to working closely with him to not only develop new business relationships, but to strengthen existing ones as well.”

Giles received his bachelor of science degree in business from Wake Forest University and his MBA from Washington University with an emphasis in strategy and marketing.
