Home Depot sales up 5.8 percent

The Home Depot reported sales of $22.2 billion for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2016, a 5.8 percent increase from the fourth quarter of fiscal 2015.


Comparable store sales for the quarter were up 5.8 percent, and comp sales for U.S. stores were up 6.3 percent.

Net earnings for the quarter were $1.7 billion, or $1.44 per diluted share, compared with $1.5 billion, or $1.17 per diluted share, in the same period of fiscal 2015. For the fourth quarter of fiscal 2016, diluted earnings per share increased 23.1 percent from the same period in the prior year.

Sales for fiscal 2016 were $94.6 billion, an increase of 6.9 percent from fiscal 2015. Total company comparable store sales for fiscal 2016 increased 5.6 percent, and comp sales for U.S. stores were up 6.2 percent for the year.

Earnings per diluted share in fiscal 2016 were $6.45, compared to $5.46 per diluted share in fiscal 2015, an increase of 18.1 percent.
